Kane Williamson out for 8-9 weeks with elbow injury, confirms coach

New Zealand suffered a major blow as skipper Kane Williamson will be out of action for the coming 2 months due to a tendon injury in his elbow, Kiwi coach Gary Stead told a local media publication.

The 31-year-old batter who did not participate in the recently concluded 2nd Test against India, which the Men in Blue won by 372 runs might not need to undergo surgery but will have to sit out for 8 to 9 weeks, Stead said.

The local media report claimed that the skipper would only be able to return in February ahead of the 2 match Test series against South Africa.

New Zealand is now set to host Bangladesh for a 2 match Test series starting 1st January next year, they will then travel to Australia for 3 ODIs and a T20 match before playing against South Africa starting February 17th.
