Jay Shah's statement leaves PCB surprised, requests ACC for an emergency meeting

The Pakistan Cricket Board has expressed its disappointment over Jay Shah's announcement of holding the 2023 edition of the Asia Cup at a neutral venue. The board in its official statement hinted towards pulling out from the 50-over World Cup that India will host, next year.

In a statement released on Wednesday, PCB said, ‘The overall impact of such statements has the potential to split the Asian and international cricketing communities and can impact Pakistan’s visit to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and future ICC Events in India in the 2024-2031 cycle'

The Pakistan board, which wrote to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to convene an emergency meeting of its board, is further irked about the decision being taken unilaterally. They said that the comments were made without any discussion or consultation with the Board of the Asian Cricket Council or the Pakistan Cricket Board which will host the Asia Cup 2023.

Pointing out that the PCB was awarded the hosting rights with the overwhelming support of the ACC board members, the board informed that they haven't received any official communication regarding the venue shift yet.
