IPL retention 2022: The 8 IPL franchises announced their lists of retained players on Tuesday. While there were obvious retentions, the list had some surprise exclusions as well.

The 8 IPL franchises announced their lists of retained players on Tuesday. While there were obvious retentions, the list had some surprise exclusions as well.

RCB retained players

The Royal Challengers Bangalore retained 3 players. Virat Kohli for ₹15 crores, Glenn Maxwell for ₹11 crores and Md Siraj for ₹7 crores. Virat took a pay cut from ₹17 crores to ₹15 crores. RCB has a remaining purse of ₹57 crores.

Mumbai Indians retained players

5-time champions Mumbai Indians retained Rohit Sharma for ₹16 cr, Jasprit Bumrah for ₹12 cr, Suryakumar Yadav for ₹8 cr and Kieron Pollard ₹6 cr. Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan were the surprise exclusions. MI has 48 crores left in their purse.

Punjab Kings retained players

Punjab Kings retained only 2 players, Mayank Agarwal for ₹12 crores and Arshdeep Singh ₹4 crores. Skipper KL Rahul was released as he wanted to go into the mega auction. Punjab are left with ₹72 crores in their purse.

SRH retained players

Sunrisers Hyderabad retained 3 players, Kane Williamson for ₹14 crores, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik for ₹4 crores each. Interestingly, SRH let go of Rashid Khan, who wanted to be in the auction. Their remaining purse is ₹69 crores.

CSK retained players

Chennai Super Kings announced 4 retentions. Ravindra Jadeja for ₹16 crores, MS Dhoni for ₹12 crores, Moeen Ali for ₹8 crores and Ruturaj Gaikwad ₹6 crores. CSK let go of long-time servant Suresh Raina and have a remaining purse of ₹48 crores.

Delhi Capitals retained players

Delhi Capitals retained 4 players. Rishabh Pant for ₹16 crores, Axar Patel for ₹9 crores, Prithvi Shaw for ₹7.5 crores and Anrich Nortje for ₹6.5 crores. Notably, DC let go of some big names including Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Kagiso Rabada and Ravichandran Ashwin. They have a remaining purse of ₹47.5 crores.

KKR retained players

KKR retained 4 players. Andre Russell for ₹12 crores, Varun Chakravarthy for ₹8 crores, Venkatesh Iyer for ₹8 crores and Sunil Narine ₹6 crores. Kolkata Knight Riders let go of Shubman Gill.

Rajasthan Royals retained players

Rajasthan Royals retained 3 players. Sanju Samson for ₹14 crores, Jos Buttler for ₹10 crores and Yashasvi Jaiswal for ₹4 crores. Notable exclusions were Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer. They have a remaining purse of ₹62 crores.
