IPL Mega Auctions 2022: Disappointed to lose out on Jofra Archer, says Rajasthan Royals' owner

Although Rajasthan Royals franchise owner Manoj Badale feels that they have succeeded in putting together a 'world-class XI', he said that losing English ace Jofra Archer in the mega auctions has been a big disappointment.

After they lost the England bowler to Mumbai Indians who bought him for Rs 8 crore, the franchise posted a picture of Archer, captioning it as 'End of an era'. Both the franchisees fought hard for the 26-year-old, but the latter ended up buying him on the 2nd day of the mega auction.

Archer who was one of the strongholds of Rajasthan has remained out of action for the whole of 2021 due to a persistent elbow injury. While he is currently under rehabilitation, he will most likely miss this year's IPL edition as well.

Saying that Archer was an integral part of the team, Badale pointed out that if he would have tried to secure Archer for 9 cr, he wouldn't be able to build the squad. He further said that the priority was to build a strong Indian core and get on board a world-class XI, which he felt his franchise has successfully done.

Royals spent 89.05 crores to secure 24 players during the 2-day IPL mega auctions.
