Under MS Dhoni's leadership, the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be looking to successfully defend their crown in IPL 2024. The charismatic captain has helped the CSK team win five titles, and he will be unwilling to quit before he can elevate the team to the status of the greatest IPL team ever. Having won the championship five times apiece, CSK and MI share this accolade currently.

Despite a wealth of elite players including Dhoni, Devon Conway, Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, and Mitchell Santner, CSK had 6 slots vacant on their formidable roster. The Men in Yellow had INR 31.40 crore to spend.

Rachin Ravindra was a steal deal for them who they bought for just Rs. 1.8 crore and Shardul Thakur also returned to his old franchise. Daryl Mitchell proved to be their biggest buy, with the Super Kings splurging as much as 14 crores on the New Zealand star.

The surprise pick came in the form of youngster Sameer Rizvi, whose exploits in the UP T20 League, ensured there was a massive bidding war to attain his services, a contest CSK won by spending an extraordinary Rs. 8.4 crores on him.
