As hotel rates soar to record highs in Ahmedabad for the much-anticipated India-Pakistan cricket match on October 15, resourceful traveling fans have found a unique 'jugaad'.

According to a report from Ahmedabad Mirror, fans making the journey for this marquee clash are now considering staying in hospitals within the city. These hospitals offer cheaper stays along with amenities such as breakfast, making it an appealing option for cricket enthusiasts.

Dr. Paras Shah, a city doctor, disclosed, "Since it’s a hospital they are asking for full-body check-up and an overnight stay so both of their purposes are fulfilled – saving money on lodging and getting their health check-up done. These people are ready for any, from deluxe to suite room, whatever is offered to them. Since we have limited rooms, we are being judicious in taking such advance bookings from NRIs because our priority is patient care."

With many hotels in the city already booked out, the remaining ones are charging nearly 20 times their usual fares due to the high demand.

The excitement doesn't end with India vs Pakistan match, as Ahmedabad will also host the opening match of the tournament between England and New Zealand, along with being the venue for the grand final on November 19.
