India vs England: Jasprit Bumrah shatters a world record with the bat

Jasprit Bumrah may be used to taking fifers and famous for his yorkers but the fast bowler shattered a huge record not with the ball but with the bat.

Bumrah was facing Broad in the 84th over of the Birmingham Test and went hell for leather as that over produced 35 runs. It's now the most expensive over ever bowled in the history of Test cricket. Out of 35, six runs came off as extras with Bumrah scoring 29 runs, which is the highest number of runs scored by a batter in Test cricket.

Untill Bumrah's blitz, the world record stayed with Brian Lara for 18 years. Lara had hit South African left-arm spinner Robin Peterson for 28 runs in a Test match in 2003-04, which included four fours and two sixes off six legal deliveries.

The 28-year-old made his debut as India captain memorable and remained unbeaten on a 16-ball-31. He became the first fast bowler in 35 years to captain in whites when the visitors took the field in the all-important 5th Test.
