India vs Australia: Bhuvneshwar Kumar at death is a concern, says Sunil Gavaskar

India vs Australia: Bhuvneshwar Kumar at death is a concern, says Sunil Gavaskar

Rohit Sharma expressed his concern over Team India's poor bowling show in the 1st T20I vs Australia in Mohali and said that the 'bowlers weren't there.'

Leaking runs in the death overs has been India's biggest concern in the last few months and it's Bhuvneshwar Kumar who finds himself in the line of fire more than any other bowler.

Being the spearhead of the Indian bowling attack, Bhuvi was expected to not just take wickets up front but be lethal in the death as well. Though he did manage to add a few in the wickets column in recent T20Is, he has looked clueless in the death overs.

After giving 19 runs against Pakistan and 14 runs against Sri Lanka in the 19th overs of crucial Asia Cup matches, the pacer was hit for 16 runs in the penultimate over of the 1st T20 vs Australia on Tuesday.

This even forced Sunil Gavaskar to pin the blame on Bhuvnshwar Kumar for India’s repeated failures. During a chat with India Today, the former India captain said that when somebody like Bhuvi is going for so many runs every single time, it's an area of concern.

Since India has failed to defend good totals recently, Gavaskar suggested playing Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel even in a couple of the ODIs vs South Africa just to get miles in their legs and to get their rhythm going.
