IND vs SA: South Africa promises secure bio-bubble, BCCI says tour is on as of now

South Africa's foreign ministry on Tuesday promised to provide a completely secured bio-secure environment to the visiting Indian team for the high-profile series in December.

There have been dark clouds over the tour ever since the emergence of a new Covid variant, Omicron, which was first discovered in South Africa. BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal though clarified that the tour will go ahead as scheduled unless the situation in South Africa doesn’t aggravate.

India's A team is currently playing 3 unofficial 4-day Test matches in South Africa. They are due to return home on December 9. Cricket South Africa also lauded the BCCI for showing faith in their government and allowing the tour to go on.

Notably, the English cricket team had to be rushed back home from South Africa in December 2020, after their ODI series was cancelled due to the outbreak of Covid-19 at the hotel.
