IND VS SA 5TH T20I: Incessant rain washes out series decider between India & South Africa

With incessant rain playing spoilsport, the series decider between India and South Africa was abandoned at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

It was a dull end to a hard-fought series that saw India come from 0-2 behind to level the series 2-2 in the 4th T20I at Rajkot. Unfortunately, the rain gods in Bengaluru robbed the fans of a grandstand finish in the series finale. As a result, the trophy was shared between the two sides.

Earlier, Captain Rishabh Pant lost his fifth consecutive toss and Proteas’ stand-in skipper Keshav Maharaj sent India in to bat.

The start of the play though was delayed after it started raining post the coin toss.

When the match did start after a 50-minute delay, Ishan Kishan blasted two sixes in the very first over. But Lungi Ngidi got rid of both the Indian openers in successive overs. India were 28-2 in the 4th over when rain intervened once again and from there on, no play was possible.

Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar who has had a resurgence in the Indian colours in recent games, was adjudged the Player of the series for picking 6 wickets from 4 games, with an exceptional economy of 6.07.

The Men in Blue will next play Ireland in a two-match T20I series that starts on June 26.
