After faltering in the first ODI, Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India would now be looking to level the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand in the second ODI in Hamilton on Sunday.

India's start to their ODI series in New Zealand didn't go as per plan. The Men in Blue suffered a crushing 7-wicket defeat against a strong home side. Despite posting a decent total of 306 runs courtesy of Shikhar Dhawan, Shubhman Gill & Shreyas Iyer's fifties, Tom Latham and Kane Williamson tore apart the Indian bowlers with a 221-run stand.

Apart from Washington Sundar, all bowlers backfired. Umran Malik, who made his ODI debut, took two wickets, but he proved to be very expensive. A star in the T20I format, Arshdeep too, did not have a great debut in the 50-over format. The Men in Blue, however, would now be looking to stage a comeback, especially with the ball in the second ODI.

On the other hand, the Blackcaps shone in all departments in the first ODI. The formidable Kiwi team who have won 13 ODIs in a row at home would now look to build on the momentum and seal the series in the next ODI.

In all the 43 ODIs that India have played in New Zealand, the Men in Blue have won 14 and lost 26. Including their last defeat, India are on a 5-match losing streak against the Kiwis in the 50-over format.
