'If opportunity arises...': Pakistan's Hasan Ali wants to play in IPL

Pakistan's pace sensation, Hasan Ali, expressed his keen desire to participate in the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL) if opportunity arises. In 2008, renowned Pakistani cricketers such as Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Hafeez, Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal, and Sohail Tanvir had participated in the IPL.

Unfortunately, political tensions between India and Pakistan led to a ban on Pakistani players' involvement in the IPL from 2009 onwards.

Despite this historical constraint, Hasan Ali, who recently showcased his skills on Indian land during the World Cup 2023, lauded the IPL as "one of the biggest leagues" globally.

In an interview with Samaa TV, Hasan Ali emphasised his aspiration to partake in the IPL, acknowledging it as a significant cricketing platform. He stated, "Every player wants to play IPL, and it is my wish to play there. It is one of the biggest leagues in the world, and I will definitely play there if there is an opportunity in the future."

Reflecting on his recent performance in the World Cup, Hasan Ali demonstrated commendable prowess by securing nine wickets in six matches, boasting an impressive average of 6.29, including a notable four-wicket haul. His return to ODI cricket during the World Cup came after Naseem Shah suffered an ankle injury in the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four match against India in Colombo.

Notably, Hasan Ali has excelled in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), representing both Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United.

Currently occupying the second po sition in the all-time leading wicket-takers list in PSL, Hasan stands just six wickets away from joining the elite club of bowlers with 100 or more scalps in the league's history, trailing behind Wahab Riaz.
