ICC announces a radical 'in-match penalty' for slow over-rates in T20Is

The ICC came up with a more vigorous penalty or slow over-rate in T20I on Friday and said that will result in a fielder less outside of the 30-yard circle for the remaining overs of the innings, starting this month.

Cricket's governing body also introduced an optional drinks interval midway through the innings in bilateral T20 international cricket as part of its updated playing conditions. The first men's match to be played under the new playing conditions will be the one-off tie between the West Indies and Ireland on January 16.

ICC has been looking into the problem of slow over-rate for a while now and had also started docking World Test Championship points in Test cricket.
