'I had a vision...': Virat Kohli opens up about his Team India captaincy days

Though ex-captain Virat Kohli could not bag any trophy for Team India in his captaincy days, the 34-year-old is still touted as one of the best captains India had.

In his interview with the sports shoes & apparel brand, PUMA, Kohli opened up about his captaincy days and revealed that his planning was never for a week or a few days but for several years.

'When I became Indian captain, I had a vision of 7-8 years for Indian cricket to dominate all over the world. I knew exactly what is needed to be done to get there', he said.

During Kohli's tenure as the skipper, India achieved tremendous success. He led Men in Blue to victory in 40 out of 68 Tests, 65 out of 95 ODIs and 30 out of 50 T20Is before signing off as the captain at the beginning of 2022.

Virat Kohli also spoke about his tumultuous time in the bubble and his struggle with the form. The ex-RCB skipper who said that the Covid-19 bubble was confining him in a way that wasn't healthy added, 'No one knew at that time what I was going through'. Virat said he was happy to see the fans back at the stadium after 3 years.

Although RCB could not qualify for the playoffs this season, Virat Kohli had a banger of a season. He collected 639 runs for RCB in 14 matches, including 2 centuries in the 2023 edition of the cash-rich league.

Kohli is currently in England preparing for the WTC final which India will play against Australia starting June 7th.
