How Alyssa Healy connects WPL's two costliest uncapped players - Vrinda Dinesh, Kashvee Gautam

It was a historical Saturday for some cricketers after being picked in the Women's Premier League auction.

Kashvee Gautam was bought by Gujarat Giants for a whopping ₹2 crore to become the costliest uncapped player to be sold. The pacer from Chandigarh holds the joint title of the costliest player of the 2024 auction with Australia's Annabel Sutherland.

And following suit was Vrinda Dinesh who was bought by the UP Warriorz for ₹1.3 crore.

Speaking after their historic buys, Gautam said, 'It’s a huge opportunity for me to showcase my skills. We have always looked up to Mithali ji. It’s a great opportunity for me to interact with her and seek tips from her.'

Former India skipper Mithali Raj is the mentor for Gujarat Giants.

On the players she is excited about bowling to, Gautam said, 'I think Alyssa Healy or any other foreign batter like Hayley Matthews.'

In a different interview, Dinesh heaped praises on her UP skipper.

'To be able to play under Alyssa Healy's captaincy, having Tahlia McGrath, having Dani Wyatt, having Sophie Ecclestone... some of the greats of women's cricket. It's going to be surreal because I've always thought of it, but, you know, I've never imagined it happening to me,' she said in a UP Warriorz video.

Dinesh was so overhwhelmed after being bought in the auction, she did not call her mother knowing she would see her crying.

'I just knew that, you know, they were really overwhelmed. They were very happy for me. And, you know, I just want to make them proud said. I will give my parents the car they have always dreamed of. That is my first goal right now and I will see whatever later on,' Dinesh said.
