Head Coach Rahul Dravid presents a special memento to R Ashwin ahead of his 100th Test | India vs England

As Ravichandran Ashwin was named in the playing XI of the Dharamsala Test vs England, the senior off-spinner was presented with a special memento by Team India head coach Rahul Dravid as the 5th Test marked the occasion of his 100th Test match.

Ashwin on Thursday became just the 14th Indian to play 100 Test matches and all Team India members along with his wife Prithi and two daughters were present at the small ceremony.

Ashwin recently became the second fastest player to take 500 Test wickets. However, he has had a tough Test series against England on the personal front.

The 37-year-old had to fly back home amid the 2nd Test in Rajkot to attend to an ailing mother but returned a day later to join the team.

Ahead of the 5th Test, Ashwin opened up about the incident and revealed that the first thing his mother asked him from the ICU was 'Why did you come?'.

The next time she was conscious, she said, "I think you should go back because the Test match is happening," Ashwin told 'ESPNCricinfo' on the eve of his 100th Test.
