Gautam Gambhir picks ICC's worst rule change in white-ball cricket

Gautam Gambhir is known to not mince words and the former India captain did exactly that when he was asked about a cricketing decision that he would want to reverse.

While chatting with Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube channel, Gauti said, "The worst thing to have happened in white-ball cricket is the introduction of 2 new balls. And the reason why I say that is, you have taken the entire skill of a finger spinner away from the game. Whether it's a left-arm spinner or an off-spinner. You have got 2 new balls, and you have got 5 fielders inside, how do you expect a finger spinner to get anything out of the surface and how do you expect a finger spinner to be included in the XI? That's the worst thing that has happened in white-ball cricket according to me."

"What is the job of the ICC? Their job is to promote every kind of bowler who wants to become a finger spinner. Tell me how many youngsters going forward would want to pick up finger spin or this art of bowling left-arm spin. They know they have got no future in white-ball cricket. If it's my way, I would just get rid of it. It's not the player's problem if the ball manufacturer can't keep the ball in good shape for 50 overs. Might as well change the ball manufacturer. I think ICC has messed it up. Hopefully, they can change it going forward and have 1 ball for the entire 50 overs," he concluded
