'Free hit in Tests?': Steyn's suggestion to save tail-enders from 'life-threatening fast bowlers'

Concerned about the performances of the tailenders in front of top-class fast bowlers, former South Africa bowler Dale Steyn on Wednesday suggested the introduction of free-hit in the longest format of cricket.

During Day 2 of the India-South Africa Test series decider, Steyn took to Twitter to ask the social media users about the thought of the introduction of a free hit for No Ball in Test Cricket.

Explaining the season behind his suggestion, Steyn said, 'it will definitely help the bowlers (when batting) survive those extended 7/8 and sometimes 9 ball overs we’ve seen happen before… 6 balls is Hard enough for the tailenders facing a top class life threatening fast bowler.'

He also praised Jasprit Bumrah who took 5 wickets on Day 2 of 3rd Test, picking up his 7th fifer at the Newlands where he played his debut Test match.
