Former ICC Elite Umpire Asad Rauf is now a Shopkeeper

He was once considered one of the best umpires in the world but such has been the fall from grace that former Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf now finds himself running a shop in Lahore after leaving cricket.

Rauf was a well-known figure during his umpiring career but his life took a turn for the worse after match-fixing allegations were made against him during IPL 2013.

And to earn his bread these days, Rauf is currently running two shops in Lahore, one that sells second-hand apparel with the other selling crockery.

Despite such a drastic change in his life in the past decade, the 66-year-old Rauf is passionate about his new business and doesn't miss the game anymore.

Rauf told a Pakistani news channel that because he has umpired in so many games in the past, there is nothing left for him to see.

Notably, the BCCI banned Rauf from officiating IPL matches for five years in 2016, bringing curtains down on his career. In his 13 years as an international umpire, Rauf officiated in 49 Tests, 98 ODIs, and 23 T20Is.
