Ex-PCB chief Najam Sethi fires more shots at Jay Shah for Asia Cup 2023 venue selection

Ex-PCB chief Najam Sethi fires more shots at Jay Shah for Asia Cup 2023 venue selection

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Najam Sethi fired more shots at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and BCCI secretary Jay Shah for Asia Cup 2023 venue selection.

In another tweet, Sethi pointed out that he had urged the ACC not to play Asia Cup matches Sri Lanka.

'I proposed that we play five matches in Pakistan and eight in the UAE. This also they rejected and hinted at giving the Asia Cup hosting rights to Sri Lanka if we didn’t budge. Finally, after we said we might not participate, they scheduled four matches in Pakistan and posted the rest in Sri Lanka,' he wrote.

Since Sri Lanka doesn't host cricket matches during this time due to heavy rain, Sethi added that he had pointed out that 'rain forecast in Sri Lanka would adversely impact match results and diminish crowds at stadiums.'

Sethi once again highlighted that the BCCI was persuaded to play the Asia Cup in UAE as in the past two IPLs and one ACC ODI event were played there in the same weather conditions. However, BCCI refused to accept their request.

'Only Mr Shah can explain why these options were rejected and why Sri Lanka was accommodated against all reason, logic, and rationality,' he concluded.
