Englishman Sam Northeast scores 410* - highest first-class score this century

English batsman Sam Northeast has become only the fourth cricketer to score over 400 runs in a single innings in the English county game.

The 32-year-old scored an unbeaten 410 runs off 450 balls with the help of 45 fours and 3 sixes for Glamorgan in a county game against Leicestershire.

He also became the 9th player in the world to score 400-plus runs in an innings in first-class cricket. It is the highest individual score in first-class cricket in the 21st century.

Glamorgan chose to declare the innings on 795-5 against Leicestershire. Hence, Northeast couldn't challenge Brian Lara's world record individual score of 501.

Interestingly, Lara who scored over 400 runs two times in first-class cricket also made the world record in English county cricket.
