David Warner: Time's up for Australian opener in Ashes 2023 after Headingley failure?

After facing a double failure against Stuart Broad in Australia's recent defeat to England in the third Ashes Test, David Warner's poor form might prompt the team management to consider a new opening pair for the upcoming 4th Test in Manchester on July 19.

Warner's scores of four and one, both dismissals coming at the hands of Broad, have highlighted his struggle in the series, where he currently holds an average of only 23.50 with just one half-century from six innings.

With Mitchell Marsh cementing his place in the team with a superb century and Cameron Green nearing full fitness, Australia may consider leaving out Warner to accommodate both all-rounders in the playing XI.

"We’ll keep all our options open. We’ve got nine or 10 days now, so we’ll take a deep breath," Australian captain Pat Cummins said during a press conference.

"We’ll go away for a few days but everyone comes back into it. Greeny should be fit for Manchester, we should have a full roster. So we’ll have a look at the wicket, have a chat, and work out the best XI," he added.
