Cricket ground in Leicester to be named after Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar

There's another big honour in store for legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar, with a cricket ground in England's Leicester set to bear his name.

The ICC Hall of Famer already has stadiums in Kentucky, US and Zanzibar, Tanzania that have been named after him.

In an interview with The Times of India, the 73-year-old who is famously known as the 'Little Master' said that Leicester is a city with strong cricket supporters, especially Indian cricket fans and that he is delighted and honoured that a stadium in the city is being named after him.

This will be the first time that an Indian cricketer will have a ground named after him in England.

A huge image of Gavaskar has also been painted on one of the pavilion walls.

Gavaskar, who is considered one of the best opening batsmen in the history of the game, has 13,214 international runs including 35 centuries and 72 half-centuries.
