Covid-19 hits cricket, Pakistan vs West Indies ODI series postponed

Pakistan's plan to revive cricket in the country is hit by a Covid roadblock this time as the three-match ODI series against West Indies has been postponed due to rising positive cases in the visitors' camp.

The Pakistan Cricket Board and Cricket West Indies announced in a joint statement released on Thursday that the number of Covid-19 positive cases has grown to nine following the release of Wednesday's RT-PCR test results.

The joint statement stated that the ODI series, which is part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League, has been postponed and rescheduled for early June 2022, taking into account both the teams' welfare as well as restricted resources in the West Indies side.

West Indies team members who returned negative Covid results have departed from Pakistan after the completion of the third and final T20Is at Karachi.

While those who tested positive will complete their isolation in Karachi.
