Captain Rohit Sharma slams 11th Test hundred, rescues India from precarious situation | IND vs ENG

In a display of exceptional leadership and skill, Indian captain Rohit Sharma scored his 11th Test century during the Rajkot Test against England, steering India away from a precarious start. The early innings saw India grappling with the loss of three quick wickets within the first nine overs, setting the stage for a potential collapse. However, Rohit's resilience shone through as he anchored the innings with poise and determination.

Partnering with Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit crafted a perfectly balanced innings, blending defensive play with aggressive strokes to maintain a healthy boundary count. This strategic approach not only stabilized India's innings but also allowed Rohit to achieve a personal milestone, surpassing MS Dhoni's record of 77 Test sixes to become the Indian batter with the second-highest number of sixes in Test cricket, trailing only behind Virender Sehwag's 91.

Rohit's pivotal innings came at a critical moment, rescuing India from a potential low score and igniting a comeback. With England gaining momentum and India teetering at 33/3, Rohit and Jadeja's partnership revitalized the hosts' position in the match.

Earlier, having won the toss, India opted to bat first. The hosts are currently tied 1-1 in the series with the Three Lions. India made as many as 4 changes to their lineup with Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat, Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar making way for Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj. Sarfaraz and Jurel are both making their debuts for India. The emotional moment of Sarfaraz receiving his Test cap from Anil Kumble, India's highest wicket-taker, was further heightened by the presence of his father, Naushad Khan, who was visibly moved by his son's achievement.
