While Amol Muzumdar is the favourite to become the next women's team coach, Ajit Agarkar is the frontrunner to become the next Chairman of selectors for Team India.

CAC conducts interviews for women's team coach, Chairman of men's selection committee

BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has conducted interviews to select the coach for the women's team. The interviews took place both in person and online, and will continue for another day on Tuesday (July 4) after inconclusive proceedings on Monday.

According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI is likely to announce the appointment of the women's coach within the next two days.

The shortlisted candidates for the position include Tushar Arothe, the former coach who led the women's team to the 2017 ODI World Cup final, Amol Muzumdar, a former Mumbai coach, and Jon Lewis from England.

CAC members Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjpe are conducting the interviews in the temporary BCCI office in Mumbai’s Worli.

Muzumdar, considered a frontrunner, attended the interview in person, while the other two candidates were interviewed online.

According to Cricbuzz, sources also revealed that some candidates were interviewed for positions in the national selection committee. However, it is currently unclear whether Ajit Agarkar, who is widely regarded as the favourite for the role of men's chief selector, has been approached by the CAC yet. As he is currently out of the country, the former Indian all-rounder would only be available for an online interview, if it hasn’t already taken place.

The announcement of the new women's coach is expected to be accompanied by the appointment of the new chairman of the men's selection committee.

It remains uncertain whether the newly appointed coach will join the women's team for the upcoming white-ball series in Bangladesh from July 9 to 22. However, if Amol Muzumdar is selected, there is a possibility that he may travel with the team.
