BCCI: Virat Kohli is the fittest Indian cricketer!

From Indian captain Rohit Sharma to ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, from one of the youngest in the team, Shubman Gill, to one of the oldest, Shikhar Dhawan, players as experienced as Virat Kohli, and players 10 years younger than him, none match his fitness levels, revealed a BCCI report.

A report prepared by BCCI CEO Hemang Amin highlighted the work done at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) during the 2021-22 cycle. The report stated that while 23 centrally-contracted Indian cricketers required rehabilitation, Virat Kohli, the ex-skipper is the only cricketer who did not check in at Bengaluru's Centre of Excellence for injury or fitness-related issues in the past year.

As per the report, a total of 96 complex injuries to 70 players were treated by the NCA medical team during the 2021-22 cycle. Out of the 70 players, 23 were from the senior India team, 25 were from India A/Targeted, one was from India U-19, 7 were from the senior Women's team, and 14 were from states.

Kohli, 33, last suffered in 2018 due to a back-related issue in 2018, since then, he has managed to stay away from problematic injuries.

A BCCI source told PTI, 'you have to give it to Kohli's fitness that he has managed himself so well that he never had any hamstring or muscle-related injuries, primarily because of the kind of fitness work he does throughout the year.'

Senior Players who suffered injuries during 2021-22:

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, Umesh Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Mayank Agarwal, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshear Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin, Axar Patel and Wriddhiman Saha.
