BCCI triples Team India chief selector salary in order to rope in Ajit Agarkar

Ajit Agarkar being roped in as the new chief selector for Indian men's national side involved a lot more than just the selection process.

Chetan Sharma, who had to step down from the post after a controversial sting operation, was getting around ₹1 crore per annum. That was significantly lower than what many former cricketers earn by being involved with other cricketing roles, especially a coaching job with an IPL side.

Same was the case with Agarkar. The former India fast bowler was the assistant coach at DC and was earning way more than what a chief selector gets.

Though the exact amount offered to him is not known, according to sources, the BCCI tripled his salary in order to convince Agarkar in giving a nod to the new job.
