Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has come out in support of Virat Kohli. The former Indian captain put his weight behind Kohli despite the senior batter’s below-par performance on India's tour of England.

Kohli managed just 12 runs in two T20I against England. His batting returns in the past two years have also been poor by his standards, highlighted by the fact that he hasn’t scored an international century since November 2019.

Backing Virat Kohli over his poor form, the BCCI president pointed out the numbers Kohli has got in international cricket, stating how it doesn't happen without ability and quality. Ganguly added that Kohli has had a tough time and the senior batter knows it himself.

Earlier, Kapil Dev had questioned Kohli's place in the squad. Already, India captain Rohit Sharma responded to those questions, claiming Kapil doesn't know what goes inside the Indian dressing room.

Ganguly, replying to Kapil’s remarks, said that these things have happened to the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and even he himself had gone through such troubled times.

"That's part and parcel of sport and I think as a sportsman you just need to listen, be aware of what it is and just go and play your game,” he said.

Ganguly, who was felicitated by the British Parliament on Wednesday further commented that he sees Kohli coming back and doing well but the senior Indian batter will have to find a way to once again be successful, something that he has done for well over a decade.
