BCCI postpones Ranji Trophy due to the rising Covid-19 cases in India

Covid-19 has once again taken the sporting world by storm and India's domestic cricket season is also not spared. BCCI on Tuesday postponed the Ranji Trophy, Col C K Nayudu Trophy & Senior Women’s T20 League for the 2021-22 season in the wake of the rising Covid-19 cases in the country.

The Ranji Trophy and Col C K Nayudu Trophy were scheduled to begin this month. The board in a statement said that it does not want to compromise the safety of the players, support staff, match officials and other participants involved and hence, decided to put the three tournaments on hold till further notice. The BCCI will continue to assess the situation and take a call on the start of the tournaments accordingly.

Recently, 7 members of Bengal's Ranji Trophy squad had tested positive for the deadly virus.
