BCCI planning to hold the Ranji Trophy in two phases: Treasurer Arun Dhumal

After postponing the Ranji Trophy earlier this month due to rising Covid-19 cases in India, BCCI is looking to hold the premier first-class competition in two phases.

While talking to news agency PTI, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said that the operations team is working on hosting the league stage from next month while the rest of the tournament could be played after the conclusion of IPL 2022.

Arun Dhumal further added that BCCI is keen to organise the domestic tournament and exploring all possibilities to stage it without compromising players safety.

Notably, Ranji Trophy comprising 38-first-class teams was scheduled to start on January 13 but was postponed indefinitely due to the third wave of Covid-19.
