BCCI opens applications for position of national selector, speculation rises over committee changes

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently accepting applications for a national selector's role, sparking widespread speculation about potential changes within its existing five-member committee. Interested candidates, who must have played at least seven Test matches and 30 first-class games, have until January 25 to apply.

Among the current selection panel, Salil Ankola from the West Zone, who also hails from Mumbai, seems the most likely to be replaced, considering the presence of Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar, another Mumbai representative, on the panel.

It's anticipated that Ankola's position might be filled by a former cricketer from the North Zone, a region not currently represented on the committee.
