BCCI announces raise in monthly pension of former umpires, cricketers

The Board for Control of Cricket in India announced a hike in the monthly pension of former men's, women's cricketers and the umpires. The new pension scheme will come into effect from June 1st, 2022, informed the Indian board.

BCCI secretry Jay Shah further informed through a Tweet that around 900 personnel will avail the benefit of the new scheme and close to 75% will be beneficiaries of a 100% raise.

While the first class players who were getting 15k/month will now get 30kmonth, ex-Test players who got 37,500 will now receive 60k/month and the women internationals who got 30K will now get 52,500.

'It is essential that the financial well-bieing of our former cricketers is taken care of players remain the lifeline of the game and as a board it is our duty to remain by their side once their playing days are over, tweeted BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.
