AUS vs SA: Pat Cummins inspires Australia to 6-wicket victory against South Africa

Australia beat South Africa by 6 wickets in the first Test match courtesy of a Pat Cummins masterclass.

The victory has given the Aussies a 1-0 in the three-match series.

The Proteas managed to set a target of just 34 runs for Australia, having been bundled out for only 99 runs in their second innings.

Pat Cummins registered a superb five-wicket haul while Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland claimed two wickets each. Nathan Lyon managed to scalp one wicket as well.

Earlier, Australia had bundled out South Africa for 152 in the first innings after skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl.

The hosts then posted 218 runs on the board, gaining a first-innings lead of 66 runs. Travis Head top-scored for Australia with 92 runs in the first innings.

The dominating victory provided Australia with some valuable World Test Championship points while the Proteas have now slipped to third in the standings, with India jumping to second.
