Asia Cup 2023: Gautam Gambhir unhappy with India-Pakistan players' camaraderie

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir who is known to call a spade a spade has now criticised players of opposing teams displaying camaraderie during cricket matches.

Without mincing his words, Gambhir took potshots at the Indian and Pakistan cricketers who were seen engaging in friendly chat while their Asia Cup match was halted by the heavy downpour in Kandy.

During a chat on Star Sports show Gambhir said, "When you play on the field for your national team, you must leave the friendship outside the boundary ropes. Game face hona zaroori hai. Dosti bahaar rehni chahiye"

He went on to say that aggression in the eyes of both sets of players is a must "You can be as friendly as you want after those six or seven hours of cricket. Those hours are very important because you're not just representing yourself, you're representing a nation of over a billion"

He called out players who nowadays are seen "patting each other on the back and exchanging fist bumps during a match"

He rebuked the teams are now playing friendly matches, and that this was not the case a few years back.
