Asia Cup 2023 final: Dasun Shanaks feels Sri Lanka need to take more wickets upfront against India

On the eve of the awaited Asia Cup 2023 final, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka feels that his side needs to take more wickets upfront which could help them in opening up the game.

The skipper who is leading the defending champions into their 12th Asia Cup final said, "it's totally depend on the pitch. So the pitches has been played playing a part in this tournament. So according to the pitch stats, we are picking a good side and, you know, especially bowling against India. And so we need to take more wickets upfront so that that opens up the game for us. So I think that's a key area in the game."

Further, he said, "we've been underdogs so everyone wanted to perform in the biggest stage. And these youngsters, they need to show the world that what they are capable of. I think that's the secret of these young people."

Shanaka also feels that India only lost their game against Bangladesh because they changed the whole team. 'It's not surprising as they had rested all their best players', he added.

Sri Lanka are set to face India in the final which will take place on Sunday.
