Ashes 2023: Steve Smith scores 12th Test hundred against England, now only behind Don Bradman

Australian batter Steve Smith showcased his brilliance with yet another century against England on the second day of the second Ashes Test at Lord's in London. Smith's innings of 110 marked his 32nd Test century, going level with former captain Steve Waugh in terms of hundreds in the longest format. Ricky Ponting is now the only Australian with more Test tons than him.

In addition, Smith's century also saw him equaling Jack Hobbs for the second-most hundreds in Ashes history, having scored 12 centuries. The legendary Don Bradman holds the top position with a staggering 19 centuries.

This century by Smith was his eighth in England, placing him second on the list of most hundreds in the country, just behind Bradman's remarkable tally of 11 centuries.

Furthermore, Smith achieved another milestone during this innings. He became the second fastest player, reaching 9000 Test runs in just 174 innings. He took only two innings more than Kumar Sangakkara, who accomplished the feat in 172 innings.
