Ashes 2021-22: England reveal 12-man squad for first Test at Brisbane

England have announced the 12-member squad for the first Ashes Test, starting December 8, against Australia on Tuesday. England have left out Jonny Bairstow in their batting line-up and went with Ollie Pope.

Meanwhile, Haseeb Hameed, who played a 63-run knock against India, would partner Rory Burns as an opener while Dawid Malan has also find a place in the middle-order.

But all eyes will be on Ben Stokes who will return after a mental break. He will add the much-needed firepower in the middle-order, which England were missing during India series.

England would reveal the Playing XI at the toss after looking the pitch conditions. The inclusion of 4 pacers in the 12-man squad signifies that the Three Lions would be looking to exploit seeming conditions at The Gabba.

The seamer Ollie Robinson is likely to return in England Playing XI after being suspended over racist tweet.

However, England will certainly miss James Anderson, who is rested for the first Test.

Australia have named their Playing 11, three days in advance of the first Ashes Test.
