'Absolute nonsense': Shoaib Akhtar reacts after Australia clinch series 1-0 against Pakistan

Pakistan lost five wickets in the final session of the Lahore Test on a deteriorating 5th-day wicket, thus failing to chase down the 351-run target

'Absolute nonsense': Shoaib Akhtar reacts after Australia clinch series 1-0 against Pakistan

In their first series since 1998 on Pakistani soil, Australia sealed the three-match series 1-0 after Pat Cummins-led side registered an emphatic 115-run victory over the Babar Azam's Pakistan in the third and final Test at Lahore.

Australia was rewarded for putting a challenging 351-target as they boldly declared their second innings at 227-3.

In the post-match press conference, an elated Pat Cummins said that he is happy with his decision on the early declaration.

"I think I got that one pretty much bang on. First 30 or 40 overs it's tough to take wickets, especially top-order wickets. And then after that, once the ball softens, starts to reverse, the run rate kind of slows right down. So I knew that them (Pakistan) going at close to three (runs) an over for over 100 overs, they were going to have to bat exceptionally well," Cummins added

Meanwhile, former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar showed his frustration over the loss on his YouTube channel and termed Pakistani batters' approach as absolute nonsense.

"The mindset of both, the Pakistan Cricket Board and probably the team management was to draw this series," Akhtar added.

Now the two teams will lock horns in three-match ODI series followed by a lone T20 International game.
