Abhishek Sharma rises to second in ICC T20I rankings, Chakravarthy gains three spots

Abhishek Sharma skyrocketed 38 spots to claim the second position in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings for batters, as per the latest update on Wednesday from ICC Cricket’s website.

The Indian opener delivered a career-defining performance in the fifth and final T20I against England, smashing a blistering 135 off just 54 balls in Mumbai.

This record-breaking knock—the highest individual T20I score by an Indian men's player—propelled him to the No. 2 ranking among batters.

Abhishek finished the series as the leading run-scorer with 279 runs at an impressive average of 55.80 and a staggering strike rate of 219.68, including a century and a fifty.

Despite his heroics, Australia’s Travis Head continues to top the T20I batting rankings, though Abhishek trails by only 26 rating points.

India now boasts three batters inside the top five, with Tilak Varma securing the third position and skipper Suryakumar Yadav slipping to fifth.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya (up five places to 51st) and Shivam Dube (up 38 spots to 58th) have also made notable jumps after strong performances against England.

The rankings for T20I bowlers also saw major shifts, with India's Varun Chakravarthy climbing three places to joint-second following his Player of the Series-winning 14-wicket haul, including a five-wicket performance.

Teammate Ravi Bishnoi moved up four places to sixth after claiming five wickets in the series. West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein reclaimed the No.1 ranking, dethroning England’s Adil Rashid.

In the latest Test rankings, Australian players made significant gains after their commanding innings-and-242-run victory over Sri Lanka in Galle.

Stand-in captain Steve Smith jumped three places to fifth after registering his 35th Test century, while opener Usman Khawaja surged six spots to 11th with a career-best 232-run knock.

In the bowling rankings, veteran spinner Nathan Lyon climbed two places to sixth, while pacer Mitchell Starc also moved up two spots to 12th following their dominant performances.
