Abdul Razzaq apologises after controversial remark on Aishwarya Rai triggered backlash

Abdul Razzaq issued a public apology on Tuesday after his controversial remark on Aishwarya Rai triggered backlash from fans and former cricketers.

The ex-Pakistan cricketer insulted the Indian actress during a press conference to justify his remark. This was done in the presence of Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul.

However, soon after fans slammed Razzaq, Afridi too criticised the remark and later clarified that he did not hear Razzaq's comment at the time and expressed his intention to ask Razzaq to apologise publicly.

Shoaib Akhtar was one of the first to raise his voice against Razzaq's comment and had stated on social media, 'No woman should be disrespected like this.'

In order to slam Pakistan's poor show at ODI World Cu[ 2023, Razzaq, during a medai interaction said, 'When I talk about intentions, I knew my captain Younis Khan had good intentions. I took confidence from this thing, if my captain’s intentions were good and if he wanted to do good for the team then I also got the motivation to deliver for my team.'

'There are lots of talks about the Pakistan Cricket Team and players, the thing is we don’t have good intentions to polish the team and develop the players. If your thinking is 'I would marry Aishwarya Rai and then get a good baby from her’ this won’t happen. You need to correct your intentions.'
