A historic first for Pakistan and PSL, Catherine Dalton joins Multan Sultans as fast bowling coach

Catherine Dalton has made history by becoming the first female coach in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Dalton, who has signed up with Multan Sultans, is also the first woman to become the fast bowling coach for a top-tier men's team.

Dalton, who's only 30 and was born in England, obtained Irish citizenship in 2015 and represented Ireland in four ODIs and four T20Is. She has visited Pakistan twice before and has worked with several notable fast bowlers, such as Mohammad Ilyas, Sameen Gul, and Arshad Iqbal, along with numerous Under-19 players.

Expressing her enthusiasm about joining the Multan Sultans for PSL, Dalton told ESPNCricinfo, "Having worked in Pakistan with some of the Multan Sultan players on two previous visits, I am really thrilled to be officially joining up with the franchise at the PSL."

She acknowledged the groundbreaking nature of her role as a female fast-bowling coach in a major men's T20 franchise, emphasising her excitement to contribute positively at multiple levels.
