Sports Ministry responds after Lovlina Borgohain alleges mental harassment ahead of CWG 2022

Indian Boxer Lovlina Borgohain, who is one of the top contenders to bring the gold medal for India in Birmingham 2022 has alleged mental harassment due to the absence of her coaches.

Borgohain shared a post on Twitter and said that her coach Sandhya Gurung was denied entry to the CWG village and one of her coaches has been sent home which has impacted her training just 8 days ahead of her event at the Commonwealth Games.

The Olympic bronze medalist further said that she is unable to focus on the Games because of this and she doesn't want to ruin her CWG campaign. I hope to win a medal for my country despite all the politics, added the 24-year-old.

In response to the Assam-born athlete's tweet, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports stated that they have urged the Indian Olympic Association to immediately arrange for the accreditation of the coach of Lovlina Borgohain.

Notably, Arjun Awardee Lovlina scripted history in Tokyo last year and took home a bronze medal in boxing's welterweight category for the country.
