While AAP's national spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned Kakran over which city she represents, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla slammed him for insulting Kakran.  
Bharadwaj had said in a tweet, that as per records Kakran represents Uttar Pradesh and not Delhi, to which Poonawalla responded by saying, 'It's an insult to the athlete, youth and Tricolour, whether it's a stadium or battlefield, people fight for the glory of Tiranga, asking Kakran where she is from is an insult to the athlete'
The AAP government has issued a clarification. In a statement, AAP said that the UP-based wrestler was provided financial assistance until 2017, the year she last represented the city. As per the Wrestling Federation of India as well, Kakran has been playing for UP since 2017.
Divya who had won Bronze in the 2018 Gold Coast said that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal promised assistance in the future and added that her calls, later went unanswered. In opposition to this, AAP said Kakran never contacted the Delhi government.
While saying that the players who have applied for assistance are getting the assistance cleared that she was given Rs 5000 in 2010-11, 10,000 in 2012-13, 1 lakh in 2013-14, 42000 in 2014 & 2016-17.

And yet, India’s Priyanka Goswami made history on Saturday afternoon by clinching the Silver medal in the discipline at the Commonwealth Games.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the performance of the Indian athletes at the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games when he met them at his residence on Saturday.
During his interaction with the Indian contingent, PM Modi reminded the Indian stars that he is keeping his promise of celebrating &lsquo;Vijayotsav&rsquo; together after their return from Birmingham.

PM Modi also took the time to congratulate all the players who participated and won medals for India at the Chess Olympiad.
He said, just like all other Indians, he also feels immensely proud talking to the country&rsquo;s top athletes who had taken time out from their busy schedules to meet him at his residence.
&ldquo;This is just the beginning for our Yuva Shakti, the Golden age of Indian sports has just begun! In the past few weeks, the nation recorded two major achievements in the field of sports. Besides historic performance in CWG; for the first time country hosted Chess Olympiad,&rdquo; he said.
India had won 61 medals at Birmingham 2022 - 22 Gold, 16 Silver and 23 Bronze medals.

Days earlier at the Smithfields beach volleyball arena, Perry the bull led the crowd through a conga, on Sunday he strutted his hoofs to "Disco Inferno" by the Trammps.
The sound engineer rose to the challenge though and was a match for Perry as the crowd joined in.
