Melbourne, Jul 31 (PTI) — Cricket Australia's chief executive, Todd Greenberg, has highlighted the intense competition showcased in the ongoing Test series between India and England as a significant factor likely to boost ticket sales for the next Ashes series.

The 2025-26 Ashes, set to commence in November between Australia and England, aims to surpass the impressive 837,879 attendees recorded during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

"It's fantastic, isn’t it? The India vs England series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is riveting cricket for fans," Greenberg explained to the Sydney Morning Herald.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy marked the highest-ever attendance for a non-Ashes Test campaign in Australian history. The record attendance of 946,750 was set during the 1936-37 Ashes when Sir Donald Bradman mesmerized audiences.

"Everyone will have their perspectives when our English colleagues arrive, and we are eagerly anticipating that. I admire their cricket style and look forward to seeing them challenge themselves on our home ground," he added.
