Mohun Bagan slam KKR management, accuse it of high-handedness during IPL 2023 match

A day after Lucknow Super Giants took to the field at the iconic Eden Gardens in green and maroon colours, football club Mohun Bagan accused the KKR management of high-handedness.

In a press release, the 132-year-old club claimed that fans donning its jersey were denied entry into the Eden Gardens, ‘The KKR management curtailed the freedom of the Mohun Bagan supporters (who are also fans of KKR and LSG) by not allowing to enter the stadium as they were wearing the jersey of Mohun Bagan.’

Lucknow Super Giants and Indian Super League champions Mohun Bagan are both owned by the Kolkata-based RP Sanjiv Goenka Group.

LSG players and management sported the club’s iconic green-and-maroon colours in their match against KKR on Saturday.

‘It was a special match for the supporters of Mohun Bagan because LSG was wearing a new Green and Maroon Jersey,’ Mohun Bagan general secretary Debashish Dutta said in the press release.

Dutta condemned KKR management’s actions stating, ‘Mohun Bagan Athletic Club strongly condemns this decision of KKR management or disrespecting the National Club of India and hurting the sentiment of our supporters.’
