AIMA 2022: Insights from Policybazaar, Dream11 to sustain startup momentum

AIMA Conclave: Speaking at AIMA’s National Leadership Conclave 2022, Alok Bansal, Whole-time Director & CFO, Policybazaar; Harsh Jain, CEO & Co-founder, Dream11 & Dream Sports and Bhavit Sheth, COO & Co-founder, Dream11 & Dream Sports shared their experiences and insights to sustain the startup momentum.

Alok Bansal, Whole-time Director & CFO, Policybazaar said that in the early days of a startup, it's all about survival.
“It's all about trying to figure out what is the right product-market fit and how to keep the team motivated. Because at that stage, the business goes through so many ups and downs.

And, it's very, very tough to keep yourself motivated and obviously then keep the team motivated. So, it's more about thinking about the immediate future than thinking about a particular valuation that you may get in the future.”

Harsh Jain, CEO & Co-founder, Dream11 talked about the true spirit of entrepreneurship. “You start to solve a problem that you deeply and personally care about, which you will not rest till you solve it. And that's what forms a fundamental base for us.”

Talking about a tectonic shift in user behavior, Harch said, “Consumers today are what you can call the tik-tok generation. They need instant gratification. They have no patience. They want to connect with their friends. They want to compete. They want to do exciting things and they want it now.”

Bhavit Sheth, COO & Co-founder, Dream11 & Dream Sports said you can have the best strategy, but if your execution and your work ethic are not there, you'll never be able to get to where you are. So, it's very important that you have the strategy, but you execute it also very well."
