Father of Atomic Bomb

Born in 1904, Robert Oppenheimer graduated from Harvard University and University of Cambridge. During World War II he was already a renowned physicist who loved poetry and could read Sanskrit. He was best known for the Manhattan Project, America’s top-secret project in 1940s which resulted in the invention of the first atomic bombs of the world and were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Even though Oppenheimer was proud of his achievement he could not accept the bomb droppings which had taken millions of innocent lives. Following this he became an antiwar supporter and faced many consequences like interrogations by the American government who was suspicious of him being a communist. He passed away at the age of 63 due to throat cancer in 1967.
