Safety tips to keep your kids away from flu and cold during this season change

As seasons shift, people tend to fall sick. Kids are especially vulnerable to changes in weather and it’s important to prioritise their safety by adopting a few key precautions to keep them healthy during these transitions.

Safety Precautions: Weather change can bring various health risks such as flu, colds, or even heat-related issues like dehydration. Ensuring that kids are dressed appropriately for the weather is a fundamental step. Layering clothes in cold weather helps retain body heat. Encouraging regular hand washing and maintaining hygiene during flu seasons also significantly reduces the risk of illnesses spreading.

Diet for Changing Seasons: A balanced diet plays a vital role in strengthening a child’s immune system during weather changes. Focus on providing nutrient-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains that boost immunity. Citrus fruits, rich in vitamin C, can protect kids from cold and flu. In summer, offering hydrating foods like cucumbers, watermelon, and yogurt keeps children refreshed and prevents dehydration.

Staying Active and Hydrated: Physical activity is essential regardless of the weather. However, during cold seasons, it’s better to minimise your child’s exposure to the outdoor environment to avoid infection, pollutants and flu allergens. Hydration is also critical year-round. Always remind kids to drink plenty of water and rest well.

By adopting these safety measures and supporting them with the right diet, we can ensure that children thrive in any weather condition.
