Messy house affects women's mental health more, finds study

A cluttered and disorganized living space can be more than just an eyesore; it can significantly impact your mental well-being. A recent study in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin reveals that women, in particular, are more susceptible to the negative effects of a messy house on their mental health.

The research discovered that when women lived in messy and disorganized homes, they felt more stressed and were more likely to feel sad. Their bodies also had more of a stress hormone called cortisol. But when women lived in clean and tidy homes, they felt less sad during the day. Interestingly, this didn't really affect men much at all.

Moreover, it is worth noting that maintaining a clean and organized living space is not just about aesthetics; it plays a pivotal role in promoting mental well-being. A tidy home can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve concentration, and provide a sense of control and accomplishment.
